The most talked-about ad of the year so far is undoubtedly Jeremy Allen White’s tight-whitey frolicking on a New York rooftop for Calvin Klein underwear. Shot by one of fashion’s highest-profile photographers, Mert Alas, the ad has spawned thousands of whatever the online equivalent of column inches are, with stories in virtually every major US and UK newspaper and a seemingly endless stream of LinkedIn posts and comments arguing its merits.
We won’t get into all that here, but suffice to say that, ever since the days of Mark Wahlberg, Calvin Klein knows its brand and how to sell it.
